Something Only Love Can Do
Long time no update! I see that even CC has been writing more posts recently! :P
My triathlon training has officially begun. For me, the most difficult part is biking. I don't have strong legs, so my muscles become extremely sored after every biking exercise. My first race will be held on August 12. It's called the Central Park Triathlon (Swim 1/4 mi, Bike 12 mil, Run 3 mi). I'm already feeling anxious about it, but I'm sure it's going to be a great and unforgettable experience!
I remember one of CC's post is about Hayao Miyazaki and his son Goro Miyazaki. It reminds me of another really touching father-son story "Team Hoyt" that I came across when I was visiting my friend's blog. Dick (the father) and Rick are a father-and-son team from MA. Over the past 25 years, they have run a total of 3770 miles: including 206 Triathlons (6 of which were ironman), 20 duathlons, 64 marathlons (24 consecutive Boston marathlons). They also ran and biked across the U.S in 1992 (took them 45 days).
But believe it or not, Rick was disabled at birth due to loss of oxygen; he cannot talk/walk, and has been sitting on a wheelchair since he was little. However, Dick and his wife never gave up on him. If you have time, you can read more here (in Chinese). Their story is really remarkable, and it has redefined the love in my dictionary.
